Cognizance'08 - Management fest

Cognizance'08, a national level inter college management fest was hosted by the Department of Business Management of Mahajana First Grade College (MFGC) in the Senate Bhavan in the University of Mysore premises on November 7 and 8. Sri Arun Raman, Managing Director of the Raman Fibre Science Limited inaugurated the fest by lighting the lamp. Mahajana Education Society (MES) President Sri R Vasudevamurthy, Smt Vijaya lakshmi Muralidhar, governing council member, MES, Prof P Sarojamma, administrative officer, MES, Principal of MFGC Prof K V Prabhakara, Head of the Business Management Department, MFGC, Smt Shylaja were present during the inauguration.
This two day fest saw students from different colleges all over India taking part in various competitions like ice breaker, retail best manager, business quiz, retail finance, retail advertisement, retail marketing and retail human resource.


Conflux-08, state level media fest hosted by MFGC

The department of communication and journalism of Mahajana First Grade College successfully hosted a two-day State-level media festival, Conflux-08 on October 15 and 16 for the students of journalism and mass media all over the state.
Speaking after inaugurating CONFLUX-08, this two-day State-level media fest for upcoming journalists organised at Vivekananda Hall in the College premises Aravinda Limbavali, Minister for Higher Education observed that the notices and circulars issued by the government take a long time in reaching the concerned departments and the people. But the journalists work by gathering news with lightning speed and publishing them to reach the people the very next morning. "Newspapers play a vital role in publicizing the decisions and policies of the government thus educating the society" he added.
Also speaking on the occasion, K. Shivakumar, President, Mysore District Journalists Association (MDJA), suggested that journalism course should be started in rural colleges also to help the students there to excel in mass communication. On the occasion he released the college newsletter Vichara.
Noted Ganjifa artist Raghupathi Bhat was felicitated by the Minister.
Over 250 journalism students from various colleges in the State participated in the two-day fest featuring various competitions like mock press conference, programmes related to writing headlines, documentary film-making, public relations and newscasting were held as part of the festival.
