Tharang' on 11th Feb at Kalamandira

- Internet portal for the city of Mysore is presenting a
Musical Evening called 'Gana Tharang' on Saturday the 11th
of February 2012 at Kalamandira from 5 30 PM. Fourteen best
singers of Mysore will be entertaining music lovers of Mysore
with old and new Hindi as well as Kannada film songs for
3 hours. The show is very unique because the singers are
the finalists of 'Mysooru Ratna' singing competition. The
best performing singer will be conferred the title 'Mysooru
Ratna' and cash prize of Rs. 25,000 along with a Trophy
and Certificate. 1st and 2nd runner up will get cash prizes
of Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively and also the trophies
and certificates. Other finalists will get Gift vouchers
worth Rs. 1,000 from Ismail Opticals. Elimination and semi
finals were held on 21st and 29th of January at Vivekananda
Hall and out of nearly 50 participants, fourteen singers
were chosen for the finals. Judges for the event include
Mysore's known singers and music directors like Vasu Dikshit,
Mrs. Kavitha Kamath, Mysooru Krishnamurthy, Mrs. Shantala
Vattam and Mandolin Manjunath. Live music will be provided
by musician A S Prasanna Kumar. Most of the finalists are
aged around 20 years or less but in talent they are no less

Profile of the finalists
1) Aparna Ravi
A Software Engineer by profession, Aparna has passed senior
grade examination in Classical Vocal and junior grade examination
in Veena. She works for an IT company in Bangalore.
2) Ashwin Prabhu
This 16 year old boy is as brilliant in music as in studies.
He has already given many stage programs and won 1st prize
in several music competitions. He has participated in popular
TV shows like Ede Thumbi hadidenu, sa Re ga Ma pa, Little
Champs, Little Star singer..etc.
3) Athishay Jain
This 16 year old singer has music in his blood. Born to
a musician mother, Athishay has already given numerous performances
and stage shows and has also participated in E TV 'Ede Thumbi
hadidenu' and Zee TV Sa Re Ga Ma Pa
4) Augustina Percy Rose
This singer cum anchor cum dancer cum model works in a Corporate
company as a customer service executive. She has performed
as a singer as well as dancer and hosted many shows too.
5) Bharath Kumar
A student of M Sc biotechnology in Mysore University has
already given many stage shows and participated in singing
competitions and won prizes. he has been selected to perform
in Malaysia in April 2012
6) Dr. Jane T Jose
A doctor by profession, Jane is doing her internship in
JSS Hospital. Though she hails from Kerala, she sings both
Kannada and Hindi songs effortlessly like a professional
singer
7) Nithya P S
A Software Engineer by profession, Nithya has no formal
training in Classical Music. But she has proved that if
music is in your genes, you can beat trained singers in
the competitions.
8) Prajwal Jain
A born musician, Prajwal has participated in many Reality
Music shows. He won Pratibha K J Yesudas show in Zee kannada.
He has got 'Yuva Pratibha' award of Karnataka State Government
and also Kala Jyothi award.
9) Ramachandra
This SPB sound alike proves that talent has no boundaries.
Hailing from a small village, Ramachandra works as a labourer
in the fileds.
10) Revathi Sharma
Seasoned professional, Revathi has been in the music industry
since long time. She has given numerous stage shows in Mysore
and in other cities.
11) Swaroop Ramesh
A Computer Engineering student, Swaroop has participated
in many TV programs like Hadigondu haadu, Kuhoo Kuhoo, Sare
Re Ga Ma Pa..etc and won 1st prize in district level Bhagavdgeethe
competition.
12) Varsha R.L.
An engineering graduate Varsh belongs to family of Musicians.
She has given many stage shows in and around Mysore and
a familiar name to the music lovers of Mysore.
13) Vijeth Urs
This young boy of 16 has already participated in hundreds
of music programs and competitions including 'Ede Thumbi
hadidenu' and won more than 200 prizes. He has done play
back singing for a Kannada movie titled 'Meshtru'
14) Yashasvini Nanjundan
Student of AISH, Yashasvini has been learning music since
19 years. She sings both Carnatic Vocal and light music.
She has participated in numerous singing competitions and
won many prizes
