Ramdas
Adyanthaya is a renowned painter in Mysore. He retired
as the Dean of Chamaraja Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA)
in the year 2005. He comes across as someone who likes
communicating with his paintings rather than his words.
He possesses a wide range of variety in his paintings
but many feel that he is at his best when he conveys little
things happening around him with utmost conviction on
canvas. His painting won him Central Lalitakala Academy
44th National award in 2002
His
life, which is as old as our independent country (he was
born in 1947), has been struggle and dedication personified.
From working on farms, serving as a bookbinder, building
boats and steel furniture, the man had done it all in
his childhood. He was even interested in poetry and music.
But it was that day that fate took him to the Ken School
of Art, Bangalore, that he discovered painting, the most
prized possession in his armory of talents today. Ramdas
holds a diploma in Drawing and painting from the same
institution. He also possesses a Post Diploma in Drawing
and Painting, Shantiniketan, Vishvabharathi University,
West Bengal.

He
was his own in the one-man shows that he took part in
Bangalore in the year 1977 and Mysore in 1983. He is the
founder member of 'Samyojitha' group of painters and 'Karnataka
Painters' associations. He has been participating in group
shows conducted by these groups at regular intervals.
He has participated in Central Lalita Kala Exhibition
in the years 1983, 1984, 1996, 1998, and 2001, and Karnataka
State Lalita Kala Academy in the years 1978, 1983, 1992,
and 1993. Besides, he has made his presence felt at various
other group shows such as Rashtriya Kala Mela, Bangalore
- 1995, Renaissance Art Gallery, Bangalore 1993,
1994, Dasara Exhibition, Mysore 1983, All India
Graphic Exhibition, Bangalore 1983, so on and so
forth. He also served as a member of the Karnataka State
Lalita Kala Academy from 1995 1998.
His
collections and invaluable translations of thoughts in
colour on canvas are well preserved at Gauthier Christopher,
France, Maria & C Chandrakanth, Canada, Seibt Ulrich,
Germany, Karnataka Tourism Development Corporation, Kannada
University, Hampi, Lalita Kala Academy, New Delhi, Karnataka
State Lalita Kala Academy, Fine Arts College, Davangere,
and many other collections in India and abroad.
The
true mark of a learned talent is his attempt to share
the tricks of the trade with others. His services as the
Residential Art Master at Bishop Cotton Boy's School,
Bangalore, Lecturer and Dean of Drawing and Painting at
Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts, Mysore and several
other yeomen services for various universities across
the state, justify just that.
