SEX HUNGRY PROWLERS IN CHELUVAMBHA PARK??????

Mysoreans being very traditional still upholding their values and culture unlike Bangaloreans are in for a rude shock if they discover to what use their favourite and the biggest recreation park in Mysore is being put for. From being the place where the parents used to bring their children at leisure, to becoming a substitute for a lodge, now Cheluvambha park is not a worthy place for a child to play. What an innocent child would discover after entering the park is a thought that disgusts every parent and they end up forbidding their child from venturing into the place. As I had heard about the declining quality of people visiting the park, I went there personally and met a few people to know exactly what the truth is. What I heard not only shocked me, but it urged me to write this in the hope that something will be done regarding the age old park which is yet another beautiful place in the heritage city.

First let me make it clear that these things which I am about to disclose is the worst kept secret of the park, for each and every person to whom I spoke knew exactly what is going on and are indifferent to it. 'Lovers', the very meaning of the term is being questioned these days. None of the middle aged group respect this class of 'Lovers' or teenagers in general and term them as vulnerable beasts (sexually of course). Their exposure to sex from a very young age in the form of sex education in schools has had a negative effect on most in our society. Their curiosity to know everything and the discovery of this 'new' pleasure makes them uncontrollable and this starts reflecting in their behaviour as soon as they get a girl friend in the case of guys and a boy friend in the case of girls. While a kissing young couple is a common sight in western countries, in India it is punishable under law to kiss or to get kissed by a man/woman in public. Shilpa Shetty and Richard Gere's controversial kiss is a solid example. So when this is the case we have a whole bunch of lovers in Mysore looking forward to an uninterrupted and romantic get together in Cheluvambha park which is now full to the brim with cheap sex hungry prowlers of which some are the gardeners in the park themselves. Apart from bringing prostitutes/other women to the park during the night times to have sex, they hardly want to miss some live action taking place in front of their eyes. When two lovers make their way to sit on a bench or on the lawn, these people who are lying in wait to have a look at what is been said and done by these lovers make a bee line to the place where they are seated and feign asleep. These unaware lovers kiss each other in front of these trespassers of their privacy. These cheap onlookers have the time of their lives when something beyond the usual kissing happens. In fact only they can give accurate information about how many times in a day they get aroused! They start masturbating on the spot when they are aroused to a greater extent. I spoke to few women working in Vikram Hospital who have their lunch daily in the park. Though they refused to give their names they told me that they have witnessed several such incidents as described above. 'In fact', one of them said, 'some of these cheap sex maniacs behave disgustingly in front of us while we have our lunch. Some sleep close to us and start masturbating.'

The worst part is that these sex maniacs are not the only ones who drown themselves in this cheap pleasure. They are joined by school and college going guys who have started getting cameras to capture the live action. Few get binoculars to get a closer look of these lovers. There are few older men who shamelessly gaze open mouthed at these lovers.
Who is to be blamed for such deteriorating standards of Mysoreans? It is the people as a whole. In western countries you wouldn't find any one gazing cheaply towards a kissing couple. We Indians call ourselves well cultured, and is this what well cultured means? Instead of stopping two uncontrolled teenagers from doing anything that shouldn't be done, you enjoy trespassing their private moments? When older people bring prostitutes/other women to the park and behave vulgarly, who can blame these teenage lovers for being out of bounds? Sex in its right sense is the most beautiful thing in the world. Each and every individual cherishes these moments of privacy with their love forever. Sex for love's sake is totally different from sex for sex's sake. What these youngsters need to be taught is to value their privacy and not allow anyone to access these blissful moments which need to be treasured and are the best moments in their lives which explain how much they love and care for one another. But the question is who will guide them through this path when all the aged people themselves haven't inculcated these thoughts and continue to be sex hungry. Unless some immediate self realization on the part of these teenagers occurs, things will tend to remain the same as the police themselves haven't looked into this matter yet. They harass and embarrass the teenagers when they catch them huddled together in a corner of the park but these sex hungry prowlers are scot free. My visit to this park was welcomed by used condoms and empty condom packets. A construction worker on condition of anonymity disclosed that while he was returning home late in the evening he has twice seen a man and a woman having sex in the park. So what can be done regarding this? Few are of the opinion of banning lovers from public parks, while others demand regular policing of these parks by guards. Everything said and done it is the individual values which are lost, may be forever. We as citizens of India ought to realize why a country which was known for its purity and human values, now ranks second in the world for housing more number of AIDS affected people. Unless there is a collective effort involving an individual's conscience, as in the west they say, 'the country is going to dogs.'
